BATS Announces Selection of its QD-50-based Narrow Beamwidth Aiming Solution

INDIANAPOLIS – March 09, 2017 – BATS Wireless (BATS), the world’s leading innovator of wireless stabilization, optimization and tracking systems, today announced the commencement of trials of its Quick Deploy platform as the at-the-halt wireless network platform of choice for a major Asian electronics and engineering provider. BATS will deliver its QD-50 antenna alignment system solution and compatible Bridgewave and Dragonwave radios for integration into their existing at-the-halt communications trailer solution.  The QD-50 project represents a shift in tactical deployment communications solutions that typically relied on short-range, omni-directional or time-consuming manually aligned antennas for communication to other assets in the area. BATS QD-50 solution brings a higher throughput, increased range, and extremely flexible alternative over legacy technologies.

The customer, one of Asia’s largest publicly-listed companies, with a presence in more than 20 countries, is currently undergoing trials with BATS’ FAST tracking antenna platform for mobile vehicle and vessel communications. The QD solution allows for the organization to take a more flexible approach to land-based, at-the-halt communications. Due to its compatibility with high-capacity, narrow-beamwidth radios, such as the Bridgewave and Dragonwave; the Quick Deploy platform allows operators the freedom to run multiple surveillance, communications, sensing, and data streams wirelessly – from virtually anywhere in the operational area.

“Narrow beamwidth antennas are typically on the wish list for operators around the globe due to their high capacity and low latency capabilities”, says Phillip Cramer, BATS Wireless’ executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Unfortunately, due to their narrow beam nature, they are notoriously difficult to set up in theater and near impossible for long range deployments. The Quick Deploy 50 solves that problem by automating the entire process. You can arrive and be connected to a high-capacity link in minutes. “

About the Quick Deploy System

The Quick Deploy (QD) series is a radio and frequency agnostic, multipurpose, automatic alignment and tracking system.  The QD is designed for Communications At-the-Halt for extending network connectivity in hard to reach and harsh environments. Ideal for deployments where users want QD-50 deployment of broadband communications, the QD can be mounted on masts, shelters, or towers for operators looking for reliable Line-of-Sight (LoS) communications in a small package.

The QD is configured with the Integrated Control Unit (ICU) that houses sensors, motion control electronics, to provide an all-outdoor solution for automated rollout applications where improved QD-50 acquisition, and establishment performance is required. The combination of precise alignment and optimization software algorithms enable high speed, high availability network links in an affordable and rugged architecture.
